BCCI Puts IPL Stars On Notice For Conduct Ahead of T20I Squad Selection For West Indies Tour: Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been stringent when it comes to Team India's selection lately, as seen in their Test squad for West Indies. India are due to travel to Caribbean Islands for a two-Test, three One-Day Internationals (ODI), and five T20 Internationals (T20I), starting from July 12.

The BCCI have made it clear that apart from performances, players' on-and-off-field conduct will also be taken into consideration for Team India selection. The board has informed the men's senior national committee about the same and asked several Indian Premier League (IPL) stars on notice.

Poor conduct will result in players getting snubbed or non-selection.

As reported by Cricbuzz, as many as four IPL players have been reported to the BCCI for poor conduct. Various news reports have suggested that Sarfaraz Khan's snub from Test selection is due to his on and off-the-field behaviour, something that BCCI has not clarified.

With India's T20I team selection for the West Indies tour still pending, selectors have been informed to take these into consideration.

Reports further suggest that a north-based franchise reported to BCCI regarding two players about their conduct, who had an exceptional domestic season.

Here's what a franchise official said

“When I became aware of the situation, I was deeply upset and immediately reported the matter to the BCCI. The Integrity Officer also took the breach very seriously and fulfilled his obligations,”

The BCCI is likely to name all-rounder Hardik Pandya as India's T20I captain and announce the squad for the Windies sometime in the second week of July.  Selectors are expected to rest star players, and hand out chances to young players.
