In a shocking turn of events, India decided to drop their first-choice finisher Dinesh Karthik in the all-important Super four encounter against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022.

Notably, India's premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was earlier ruled out of the tournament owing to knee injury. India decided to go with Rishabh Pant as their wicket-keeper, as he is the lone left-handed batter right now in the Indian team. Further, they felt it convenient to include Deepak Hooda as their second all-rounder and the sixth bowler.

This meant the unfortunate exclusion of Karthik, who was being trusted by the management as the finisher till now.

This move by the Indian think tank triggered numerous reactions from the fans as well as experts.

Some fans alleged the management of doing experiments in the crucial juncture of the tournament.

Legendary former cricketer WV Raman reckoned that Karthik should have played this game.

Some fans even highlighted the quality India have, which made a player like Karthik getting dropped.

Since his comeback, Karthik has played some impactful knocks for the Men in Blue in the shortest format. His ability to maul any kind of pace all around the park makes him an asset in the death overs. It was indeed a brave call from India to bench Karthik in the favour of Pant. However, the southpaw returned with unimpressive figures, managing just 14 runs off 12 balls.
