Ashes aftermath: Managing Director Ashley Giles steps down

England’s 0-4 defeat to Australia in Ashes down under has sent a ripple effect throughout the English cricketing structure. Talks had already begun during the series that the English County system does not given any incentives to the players for playing the long format of the game. And now all of that has boiled down to Ashley Giles having to step down from the position of Managing Director of the England and Wales Cricket Board.

His position will be filled by Andrew Strauss on an interim basis till England finds a suitable alternate.

When asked about a comment, Giles stated that he was proud of the achievements that England had made under him and he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.

"The second thing for me was, reflecting over the last 12-24 months and understanding that I'm very young in my [international] career and only two years in, that I wanted to have time to work on my game. I guess I didn't really feel like I was where I wanted to be and if I want to compete for spots in the New Zealand sides moving forward across all three formats, I actually need to spend time working on my game and not just trying to play the whole time. Yeah, for me it was just about time at home and just time to work on my game," Jamieson concluded.

Mayank Agarwal added to team India after players test positive for Covid-19

Opening batsman Mayank Agarwal was added to the Indian team late on Wednesday night after news broke out that three players tested positive for Covid-19 along with net bowler Navdeep Saini and three support staff members. The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the development via a release and stated that Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer were the three members from the main team to have tested positive. It is not yet known whether the series will be postponed or not, but if there are more positive cases in either of the camps, the organiser might be forced to tweak the schedule. As it stands, there will be no crowd in Ahmedabad for the first three ODIs but Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host 75 per cent capacity.

Ganguly confirms pink ball Test for India vs Sri Lanka

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Virat Kohli will be up against the Pink Ball in his 100th Test match. Speaking to Sportstar, Ganguly revealed that the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Bengaluru starting 25 February.
