Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer often entertains his fans with his hilarious takes on global cricketing affairs. On Monday, January 1; when the world was celebrating the start of a new year, the cricketer-turned-coach took to social media and shared a comical wish over the occasion for his fans.

Wasim Jaffer mentions Pat Cummins in unique wish

Wasim Jaffer took to X (formerly Twitter) and extended his best new year wishes for his fans and followers. The former opening batsman, however, did so with much grace and uniqueness considering he hoped for everyone to have their 2024 as successful as the year 2023 was for Pat Cummins.

He wrote:

“Happy new year everyone! May your 2024 be as successful as Pat Cummins' 2023.”

Compatible to Wasim Jaffer’s claims, Pat Cummins indeed had a splendid year in 2023. The charismatic Australian captain led his side to a historic WTC title by defeating India in a one-sided final at The Oval in June.

The legendary fast bowler subsequently guided Australia to Ashes retention in England by drawing their five-match series 2-2. Cummins also helmed Australia’s sixth World Cup title win in November during the 2023 edition in India.

On an individual note, the speedster snared 42 wickets across 11 Tests to emerge as the second highest wicket-taker of the year behind his teammate Nathan Lyon (47 wickets).

Furthermore, he became the second most expensive purchase in IPL history during the auction event for the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Cummins concluded his year by leading Australia to two dominant Test wins over Pakistan in late December, and will now be aiming to pocket a 3-0 series whitewash when he takes field at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on January 3.
