In a significant development, Apollo Tyres is all set to be Team India's new jersey sponsor. The deal was confirmed after a bidding process conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This deal will run until 2027 and is valued at approximately ₹4.5 crore per match.
The jersey sponsorship of Team India has historically been one of the most valuable commercial rights in cricket. Over the years, it has attracted top international and domestic brands, including BYJU’s, Oppo, and Sahara.
New Sponsors For Team India - Apollo Tyres
According to BCCI, the sponsorship comes after the board terminated its deal with Dream11.
In response, the BCCI invited fresh bids earlier this month. The tender process concluded on September 16, with Apollo Tyres emerging as the top bidder. The other competitors included in the list were Canva and JK Tyre. Birla Optus Paints had initially shown interest but chose not to submit a formal bid.
The deal with prior sponsors was cancelled due to regulatory issues stemming from the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025.
Stricter Eligibility Criteria For Sponsors
It is important to mention that BCCI adopted a more rigid and strict approach in this tender cycle. The board earlier announced that directly barred companies from sectors like betting, gambling, cryptocurrency, online money gaming, and tobacco.
Furthermore, businesses already associated with the Indian team - such as sportswear brands, banks, insurance companies, and non-alcoholic beverage brands were also excluded from bidding, to avoid overlapping sponsorships.
It is vital to note that India is playing in the Asia Cup 2025 without any sponsor, while the women’s team is also without a sponsor in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia.
