Alex Hales Joins Jamaica Tallawahs for CPL 2023 After Calling Time on International Career

Former England opener, Alex Hales is all set to don the colours of Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League 2023. This announcement comes on the back of Hales' surprising retirement from international cricket on Friday.

Alex Hales set to ply his trade in CPL 2023 with Jamaica Tallawahs

The 34-year-old will step in for Naveen ul Haq, who is currently unavailable. Hales' impressive record in the T20 format speaks volumes.

With over 400 T20 games under his belt, he is part of an elite group, being one of only nine players to surpass the 10,000-run mark in the format. Notably, he stands as the highest English run-scorer in T20s.

The explosive opener proficiency isn't just limited to English shores. Hales, with his title win with the Barbados franchise in 2019, has already tasted the thrill of the CPL.

As he transitions from English commitments to the coasts of Jamaica, the Tallawahs can expect a considerable uptick in their batting firepower.

As the T20 World Cup 2022 winner, Hales has a enviable resume filled with accolades in the shortest format of the game.

Having made a name for himself in leagues across Pakistan, West Indies, Australia, and England, he has amassed a staggering 11,000 T20 runs, with a commanding strike rate of 147.

More impressively, his batting shines brightest in power play overs where his strike rate goes up to 152.33. With these numbers, CPL 2023 bowlers will be wary, especially when many teams face challenges in the power play.

Meanwhile, Hales bid adieu to his international career last week. His final appearance for England was against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 final at the MCG last November.

Beyond statistics, Hales will be remembered for rejuvenating England's white-ball cricket approach post-2015 under Eoin Morgan and his instrumental role in the T20 World Cup 2022 win.
