Abu Dhabi T10 gets new USA-based team, Kieron Pollard appointed as icon player

Abu Dhabi T10 League, on September 3, welcomed New York Strikers as the newest entrant into its mix for the upcoming sixth edition of the tournament.

Moreover, the brand-new team will feature West Indies T20 barbarian Kieron Pollard as its icon player. The 2022 edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will commence from November 23 and will be played in round-robin and the playoffs format.

Former West Indies captain Pollard was announced as the first signing of the new USA-based New York Strikers side. The cricketer has already featured in Abu Dhabi T10 matches before, having represented the Deccan Gladiators in the fourth season.

The all-rounder skipped the fifth season last December and will be making a return to the elite T10 event this year, albeit with a new side.

Other teams have already unveiled their icon players for this season. Pollard’s West Indies teammates Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo will be headlining the Deccan Gladiators and Delhi Bulls respectively. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan (Bangla Tigers), Chris Lynn (Team Abu Dhabi) and Wanindu Hasaranga (Northern Warriors) will serve as the remaining icon players of the year.

The tournament, administered by the Emirates Cricket Board, will conclude its sixth season with a final on December 4.
