The Indian Express has reported that Abhishek Nayar is all set to take charge as KKR's new head coach for the IPL 2026. The former Mumbai all-rounder has been associated with the franchise for a long time, having played a pivotal role in refining their auction strategy and decision-making.
After removing Chandrakant Pandit from the position, the KKR management informed Nayar of their plans to hire him as their head coach. Previously, Nayar has served as the assistant coach of the three-time champions, grooming the young talents spotted by the scouting team at their academy.
Recently, WPL franchise UP Warriorz also appointed Nayar as their head coach for the 2026 season. Besides helping many renowned athletes, including Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma, get back their mojo, Nayar has ample experience in cricket coaching, having served as the Indian team's assistant coach as well.
