2000 Police Officers To Ensure Safety At Punjab-Delhi IPL 2024 Match In Mullanpur

Heavy security arrangements have been made for the Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals match, scheduled to take place at the new Mullanpur stadium on March 23.

Special DGP of Punjab, Arpit Shukla, shared details about the tight security arrangements made by the Mohali police for the first game at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. This comes ahead of Punjab Kings' first home game against Delhi.

"We have made ample security arrangements for the match. The Mohali SSP will ensure tight security cover. We will also ensure that the residents around the stadium don’t face any inconvenience and thus the traffic will be properly regulated,” Shukla said.

More than 2,000 cops will be deployed to enhance security, while parking at the  stadium will also be managed by the Mohali police. Additionally, the Mullanpur stadium, with a seating capacity of over 33,000, offers parking facilities for 7,000 cars. Special DGP Shukla also mentioned that several roads will be diverted once the final traffic route and plan are established.

The brand new Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur is set to host its first major event. Following years of cricket at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali, the Mullanpur stadium will become the third home ground for Punjab Kings. Previously, they played at the IS Bindra Stadium and the Dharamshala Stadium. 

Rishab Pant's comeback will take place at the newly constructed Mullanpur stadium, marking a significant occasion. Special programs have been organized by the PCA for its inaugural event. Punjab Cricket Association has also extended free passes to underprivileged and differently-abled children.  Also there have been reports about pavilions dedicated to Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh in the Mullanpur stadium. 

The Mullanpur stadium will host the first five home games of Punjab, with the last two matches scheduled to be played at Dharamshala.
