Netherlands are all set to square off against Bangladesh in the 28th match of the ongoing 2023 World Cup. This will be the first game in the most mesmerising and iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The city of joy will be staging the contest from 2:00 PM IST on doubleheader Saturday.

After five games, the Netherlands has only claimed one victory. They were close to victory against Pakistan in their first game but failed to get the better of the nerves in the end. It was succeeded by a loss to New Zealand. Nonetheless, they recovered to defeat South Africa and made history by shadowing them once again after the T20 World Cup 2022. The European side suffered two defeats when Sri Lanka and Australia got the better of them. In their latest clash against the Aussies, they saw a horrendous defeat of 303 runs.

Bangladesh has failed to regain momentum following their victory over Afghanistan in their opener of the tournament. They have lost four games on trot and are currently at the bottom of the table. England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa have demolished them in their last four games.

There's a need of rejig for the Tigers as another loss may lead to elimination for the Asian side. The good news is that captain Shakib Al Hasan is set to make his return from a brief visit with his personal coach in Bangladesh.

So, let us quickly have a look at Bangladesh's Predicted XI against Netherlands.

Openers: Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim

Bangladesh are going to continue with Litton Kumar Das and Tanzid Hasan Sakib at the top of the batting order.  Litton has scored 76 and 66 against England and India and finds himself in a better shape. The batter would enjoy the conditions of Eden Gardens where he practised for quite a bit during his IPL stint for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Litton's partner, Tanzid Hasan Tamim was brilliant against India. In a pressure match, he brought up a magnificent half-century and offered a rollicking start to Bangladesh.

Middle Order: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy

Najmul Hossain Shanto is the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket. He was in tremendous form during the Asia Cup despite suffering from injury. However, Shanto has failed to transpire that form into the grandest stage. However, Bangladesh backs him and it won't be long before the batter fires with the blade.

Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the best batters of Bangladesh. He always stands up at the need of the hour. Rahim's experience is key for the Tigers to bounce back after four losses and he will also keep the stumps.

The Tigers may also bring back Towhid Hridoy. Their experimentation with more bowlers did not work earlier and the 22-year-old may get a chance to showcase his potential at the biggest stage. He has notched up 226 runs from his last nine innings.

All-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad

The skipper of the team is likely to return after missing a couple of matches. He flew back to take some leaf out of his personal mentor in Dhaka. Shakib was not satisfied with the way he was batting and will look to make a mark with both the willow and the cherry.

Other all-rounders in the side include Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad. The former scored a century in the Asia Cup recently and is a full-timer with the ball in hand. The latter has been in marvellous form with the bat in hand. Riyad has a batting average of 99 in his last three innings. He stocked 111 runs against South Africa in Wankhede Stadium in their latest match.

Bowlers: Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman

Taskin Ahmed is rumoured to come back into the XI after missing the last match due to a shoulder niggle. He bowled full throttle a couple of days in the practice sessions and may replace Hasan Mahmud.

The left-arm pace duo of Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam should be the other two bowlers with Taskin. The former brings wealth of experience into play whole the latter is one of the talking points in Bangladesh cricket fraternity.
