The Asia Cup 2025 is approaching, and India face a selection headache ahead of the tournament that many other teams would envy. They have to select between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in their squad.

Both of these two talented batters present compelling cases for themselves. The squad will reveal the option the Indian team has gone for on August 19, but here we take a look at their comparison after 21 T20I matches in their career.

Jaiswal vs Gill: Overall Career

If we compare the raw numbers of the two players, then Yashasvi Jaiswal commands a better average in the format than Shubman Gill. While Jaiswal averaged 37.94 at the end of 21 T20I matches, Gill averages 30.42.

If we look at the strike rates, then the southpaw is also ahead as he scores at the rate of 164.18, and Gill's strike rate is 139.27. So, as far as aggressive batting is concerned, Jaiswal is also ahead of Gill.

Jaiswal vs Gill: Performance Away From Home

The biggest difference between the two after 21 T20I matches lie in their away performances. Gill's record in the case of the away T20I matches plummets dramatically. He averaged around 24.27 with a strike rate of around 118.66.

The numbers are quite contrasting to his home records, where he averages 37.50 and maintains a strike rate of 167.91.

On the other hand, Yashasvi is a better batter away from home rather than in his familiar conditions. His average away from is around 35.50, while at home it is about 30. Although his strike rate takes a dip away from home, his consistency makes up for that shortcoming.

Jaiswal vs Gill: Conversion Rate

In 21 matches, Gill has scored three half-centuries and one century. This means that he has a score of 50 or more every fifth match. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal has five half-centuries along with a 100-plus score. So, his conversion rate is a 50-plus score nearly every third match. Hence, we see that the conversion rate is better for Jaiswal after 21 matches.
