In an important clash of the IPL 2024 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to host Delhi Capitals (DC) at Eden Gardens on Monday, and given a couple of questionable losses in the past week, Shreyas Iyer is expected to make some changes to the final XI.

KKR kicked off the season on a high and climbed up into the top four slots of the points table. However, their bowlers let down heavily as KKR lost a couple of games against PBKS and RR despite setting up over 220 runs on the board.

The previous fixture against PBKS was one a kind where Jonny Bairtstow and Shashank Singh chased down the highest total in T20 format’s history. Hence, when a total of 261 runs prove to be not good enough, changes to the bowling department are bound to happen.

That being said, Shreyas Iyer will be in a dilemma with his options as Mitchell Starc, the INR 24.75 crores auction pick, is down with a hand injury after he sustained a cut against RCB. 

If he’s fit, Starc will surely replace Dushmantha Chameera who went for 48 runs in 3 overs on his debut.

Besides, KKR can call up Vaibhav Arora as an impact player sub instead of Anukul Roy. They are in desperate need of proper fast bowlers who can bowl tight overs in the middle as well as death overs.

Barring these two changes, Iyer is most likely to stick with the same combination. While the batting unit has set no foot wrong, the bowlers need to step up and keep nerves in pressure situations to avoid a blowup.
