In a remarkable display of fast bowling, MI speedster Jasprit Bumrah shines in their recent IPL 2024 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB) at Wankhede Stadium.

Bumrah's exceptional spell, yielding 5 wickets for just 21 runs, not only secured him a place in IPL history but also made him the first bowler to record a five-wicket haul against RCB.

During the game on Thursday, April 11, Bumrah exhibited his bowling skills by claiming the big wicket of Virat Kohli early in his spell, contributing significantly to MI defensive strategy.

Bumrah achieves multiple records

His performance saw him achieve his second five-wicket haul in the IPL, joining the likes of James Faulkner, Jaydev Unadkat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the only players to have multiple five-wicket hauls in the tournament.

With these figures, Bumrah has now amassed 29 wickets against RCB over 19 innings, surpassing previous record holders Ravindra Jadeja and Sandeep Sharma, both of whom had 26 wickets against the team.

This achievement also propelled him to the top of the Purple Cap leaderboard, tied with Yuzvendra Chahal at 10 wickets each in five games.

The match concluded with RCB setting a competitive total of 196/8, bolstered by Faf du Plessis' 61 and Dinesh Karthik's unbeaten 53. Despite the challenging score, Bumrah's breakthroughs were crucial in keeping the target within reach for MI as they finished the game with 27 balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets.

Bumrah's historic performance at his home ground of Wankhede Stadium, where he claimed his first 5-wicket haul in the venue, underscores his status as one of the premier bowlers in the IPL, consistently demonstrating his skill in pivotal moments of the game.
