On Friday, India will cross swords against Ireland in the first T20I of the three-match series at The Village in Malahide, Dublin. The series holds significant importance for India, as they are desperate to get back on the winning track following a disastrous series defeat against West Indies in the Caribbean. On a similar note, Ireland also had a forgettable campaign in the World Cup qualifiers and would be keen to bag the series on home soil.

So, as the Malahide Cricket Club ground gears up to host the contest, let's see what the stats say about the venue.

The Village in Malahide, Dublin, has hosted 16 T20 international matches, with the first game played between Nepal and Papua New Guinea in July 2015.

Scotland hold the record for the highest-ever team total of 252 for three, which they posted against the Netherlands in 2019. On the other hand, Ireland possess the infamous record for the lowest-ever team total of 70, which they registered against India in 2018.

Teams batting second have had astounding success at the venue, winning nine matches as compared to seven by those batting first. The surface in Malahide favours the batters to a significant extent, as evident from the average scoring rate of 8.38. Meanwhile, the bowlers concede around 24 runs on an average per dismissal.

Considering the stats, we reckon it's going to be a batters' paradise and it will probably be a high-scoring affair.
