Peshawar Zalmi had their three-match winning run halted by an insurgent Islamabad United group in match number 20 of the ongoing PSL 2024 season.

Under Babar Azam’s leadership, the Zalmi batters failed to chase down United’s 196-run total by falling 29 runs short of their target at the Rawalpindi Stadium.

Currently placed at number four on the PSL 2024 points table after their recent outcome, Peshawar Zalmi will now face table-toppers Multan Sultans on March 5 at the same venue. Ahead of their much-awaited contest, here is a look at a probable playing XI of the Peshawar Zalmi franchise.

Peshawar Zalmi’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris will likely be dropped from their playing XI against Multan Sultans. The 22-year-old cricketer has only managed to stagger 47 runs this PSL 2024 season from six innings at a meagre average of 9.40.

In the absence of Haris, England’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore can don the wicketkeeping gloves while middle-order batter Asif Ali can make a cut into the playing XI.

Both Tom and Asif can helm Peshawar Zalmi’s middle-order while in-form captain Babar Azam and young Saim Ayub will continue to open the innings.

All-rounders Paul Walter, Rovman Powell and Aamer Jamal can occupy the subsequent three batting slots owing to their hard-hitting abilities.

Luke Wood, Mohammad Zeeshan and Salman Irshad will serve as Peshawar Zalmi’s primary pace options while 29-year-old leggie Arif Yaqoob will helm the team’s spin department.
